HISTORY

Pump Hill Farm and the surrounding farmland once boasted some of the biggest and tallest Karri trees in the world - one of the reasons why Pemberton Township was founded.  The area was logged in the 1930's, leaving behind huge stumps among the remaining forest.

In 1956 Vladimir Geodresco purchased approximately 160 acres and began the daunting task of clearing the remaining trees and getting rid of the stumps - quite a feat in the early days when a cross cut saw, dynamite and pure hard work were the only tools.  The land was then used for grazing cattle and later for growing potatoes.

In 1978 Mr. Geodresco sold 40 acres of this land to a couple of hobby farmers, and Pump Hill Farm was born.  Located on Pump Hill Road, Pump Hill Farm derived its name from the pump at the bottom of the hill.  The pump used to generate Pemberton's water supply.

In 2023 Pump Hill Farm business has changed hands for the 6th times and Gwendolyn Wenli is now the custodian of this beautiful legacy of Pump Hill Farm Cottages and the new addition Springs Valley & Spa.

Pump Hill Farm provides a great experience for visitors, most of whom come from Perth.  Many also come from Singapore and other South East Asian cities.  For the city dweller it is a welcome change - most are amazed at how quiet it is!  Being only 1km from Pemberton, Pump Hill Farm is central to all the local attractions, and close to what most people are in the area for - the beautiful Karri forests.

The cottages are fully self contained and considerable effort has been made to ensure they are quite unique.  Apart from the earth walls and the jarrah furniture, each cottage boasts a leadlight window and handprinted quilts based on the name of the cottage.  There are many cottages in the South West - however, none of them have the level of individuality that Pump Hill Farm is renowned for.

Children are especially welcome at Pump Hill Farm and every effort has been made to introduce them to farm animals just as it would be on a much larger farming property.

Our cows, sheep, goats, donkeys and horse are kept in grassy paddocks.  Our friendly ducks freely roam the property, entertaining guests with their antics.  All of our animals are people friendly and willingly come to the fence to be patted and hand fed.  Each morning are invited to join in a hay ride to feed all the animals.

If Gwen is not wearing her farm boots she is a registered Yoga Teacher; for over two decades she has dedicated her life to Yoga for Health and Wellness. Naturally in due time it made sense to include wellness into Pump Hill Farm Cottages offerings, and in 2023 Springs Valley & Spa is born. A sacred space where untold stories are woven into reality.

Pump Hill Farm cottages are created holistically and evolve organically, the architecture always true to each destination. Every Pump Hill Farm experience gently unfolds with simplicity providing an immediate sense of belonging.

Gwen and her staff are committed to providing a quality product as well as a memorable experience for all their guests.  Every effort is made to ensure the highest standards are met at all times.

We hope you enjoy your stay with us – now you too know what a unique and special place Pump Hill Farm is.  Thank you for being our guests.

I like the way Gwen seem to adjust to varying classes without fuss and I enjoy the variety of her postures. They have a consistency while still revealing something new (more like an extension rather than random new) and for me i find that good. A measure of that is i rarely wonder how long it is the the end of the session......!!! - Allan Ronk

We all like that Gwen keeps chatting. Telling us exactly right on left, breathe in, exhale etc. (Some dumb clucks get it inside out sometimes.) Also love the variety and Gwen seem to pitch the challenges well according to her class. I think that's hard as we are all different levels. We love Gwen. - Susan Ronk

Gwen's excellent education, experience and grounded approach are the foundation but it is her genuine (not fake new age blah blah) reverence for the soul within the body that makes her outstanding. - Polly Valentine

Gwen's intuitively teaches postures that suit class members personal needs. - Les Mirco

Gwen has a warm connection with all of her class members, she challenges and nurtures our poses, my yoga practice is developing more with each session. I love Gwen's classes and always feel soothe by her voice during our guided relaxation at the end of each session. Love your work Gwen. - Jennifer Martyn

Gwen "walk her talk" e.g. she lives and breathes yoga. Gwen is always putting into her practice her knowledge e.g. different poses depending on the participants. For me the biggest thing is the essence she brings to class. You create a sacred healing space. I totally trust Gwen even when she makes us do agonising poses I know she knows her stuff. I would say your depth of knowledge and the way you put that knowledge into practice, guiding us into asanas, always taking into account people's strengths and limitations. - Lizzie Troup

What makes Gwen stand out as a yoga teacher is... her calm, friendly energy and her ability to personalise the session, and her insight into using yoga in life i.e. working on your heartspace. You're amazing Gwen :) - Jodie Miller

Gwen's intuition and creativity make her special. Well, that's my immediate response. She responds to what is needed in the class - she doesn't deliver something that she has prepared in advance. She feels what is needed and follow that instinct. I love the way Gwen is always introducing new elements to keep it feeling challenging and fresh. She is also a bit cheeky, which helps us get through the painful moments at times - Fiona Sinclair
